The Spirit of The King Live On

Two of my favorite songs of all time, are kindred spirit of each other; The Ride by David Allen Kole, and, Midnight in Montgomery by Alan Jackson. And, while I have never been given a ride by a mysterious ghostly driver, that doesn't mean I haven't had a similar experience. On a dark night, I myself encountered the spirit of Elvis Presley.  There's no such thing as ghosts, you say ...... WANNA BET?!?

It was 3 years ago this summer, I had purchased a ticket to go and see an Elvis tribute artist in Branson, MO, and was genuinly excited about the show, until the show started.

How this guy won all the awards he had paying tribute to The King was amazing, his mannerism were all wrong, and his actions were not even close. So, I walked out on the show, just before intermission, little did I know that this subtle act of protest would cause a moment that change my life.

I got in my car and began the drive back home to Springfield, and immediately put in the, ALOHA; Live from Hawai'i, to calm me down. About halfway between Branson and Ozark, I came up on an old Cadillac, late 50s was my guess, pink, then I saw the license plate ..... "ELVIS".

Pulling up alongside the Cadillac convertible I couldn't see the driver at all, the top was down and I could make out the car pretty easy, but couldn't get a clear view of who was behind the wheel. I, as a good Elvis fan, jammed up the radio and gave them a honk. They honked back and a hand appeared giving me a "thumbs up". A man's hand with a couple of really big gold and diamond rings on his hand.

I kept on driving, trying to make sense of what I had seen, and the next thing I know, I look in my mirror and nobody is behind me, as I got to the first Ozark exit, I pulled over and waited, nearly an hour passed and the pink Cadillac never came by.

In all my trips to Branson since, I have never seen that particular car again, not sure I ever will, but it was there that night, if nothing else, just for me to see and be shown a new path in life. This year is the 35th Anniversary of Elvis's death, and yet, every day, he touches and affects someones life, as he did mine that night on that lonely highway.

This is the first time I have ever put this entire story down for someone to read, but it DID happen, just as I said. Since then I have had a difference in my life, a new Hope that wasn't there before, my eyes and my heart have opened up like they never had before. The world is more beautiful than it ever has been and feels like it's worth living, every second of every day.

The King Lives On, and always will. Thank you E, where ever you are.

Y'all have a nice day,
Stormy
